BDS Aotearoa provides information on targeted campaigns against Israel specific to the context of Aotearoa New Zealand. Inspired by the anti-apartheid struggle in South Africa, the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign adopts a rights-based and non-violent approach to pressure the Israeli state to comply with international law and respect the rights of Palestinians.

The BDS movement has three simple demands. It asks that individuals and communities of conscience everywhere boycott and divest from Israel until it:

  1. Ends its occupation and colonisation of all Arab lands (occupied in 1967) and dismantles the Separation Wall (also known as the Apartheid Wall);

  2. Recognises the fundamental rights of the Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel to full equality (civic rights); and

  3. Respects, protects, and promotes the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes and properties, as stipulated in UN Resolution 194.

New Zealand played an important role in bringing down the South African Apartheid regime through the boycotts and protests of the 1981 Springbok Tour. We urge you to take a stand and get involved. Together we can force Israel to abide by international law.

BDS Aotearoa boycott Targets

There are four main BDS targets in New Zealand:

  1. Obela Hummus

  2. SodaStream

  3. HP Computing

  4. Ahava Skincare

Support the Boycott by not buying these products.

There’s nothing refreshing about apartheid

Help us remove SodaStream from the shelves of all retailers across Aotearoa.

Why? SodaStream is one of the largest food and beverage manufacturers in Israel. It is deeply implicated in the economic oppression of Palestinian people. While it proudly describes itself as a Zionist company, and pretends to remain unaffected by international concerns as to the legality of its operations, it has nevertheless felt the effects of the global BDS campaign.

While the government is stalling on imposing sanctions on Israel, we the people will use our collective consumer power to create change.

Don’t buy any SodaStream products

Encourage your family, friends, colleagues and neighbours to Swap Out SodaStream too!

Sign & share our petition that urges all SodaStream stockists to Swap Out SodaStream for more ethical alternatives

Contact your local retailers stocking SodaStream, let them know that stocking SodaStream normalises Israeli apartheid.

buy ethically

The BDS movement calls for a boycott of all the products of all Israeli and international companies that are involved in Israel’s violations of Palestinian rights.

watch ethically

Israel’s cultural institutions (music, visual arts, etc.) are implicated, through their silence or active participation, in supporting, justifying and whitewashing Israel’s occupation and denial of Palestinian rights.
